Over the years the public Internet infrastructure has been slowly tuned for tremendous traffic growth. The technical and business implications to how Service Providers operate these services are profound when it comes to how P2P traffic is treated. This session will provide an overview of connectivity basics, how networks have been designed to deal with recent trends, what this means to decentralized web trends and several technical and non-technical call to actions to the community at large.
 

Marco Rodrigues
VP, Products, Volterra Edge Services

Marco has more than a 20 years experience in design, building and operating Internet & IP infrastructures. He is currently responsible for Products at Volterra Edge Services. Prior to Volterra, Marco was a Distinguished Engineer at Juniper Networks supporting the worlds largest Service Provider and Enterprise customers.  He's contributed to key IETF working group technologies pivotal to Internet and IP infrastructures and numerous networking related technology & operator associations.  Marco was an early contributor and thought leader on Telco Cloud architectures which has evolved into Edge Computing. He's an avid technologist and early adopter of disruptive technologies. Among his many interests, Decentralized Web technologies and the paradigm shift's implications to Building and Operating Internet & Cloud infrastructures has been top of mind for him. He's a Toronto native currently located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
