What to Expect

WHO SHOULD COME: Are you a coder, lawyer, artist, activist, armchair philosopher or all of the above, working to create new ways to connect to and through technology? Ready to get your hands dirty and build something new from the ground up? Love to camp, code, create art and connect with the great outdoors? Then DWeb Camp may be for you.
This will be a special gathering of pioneers building decentralized technologies and principles for an open, private, secure Web. Builders and Dreamers, join us for a meaningful 4-day retreat to explore concepts around decentralization and community.
DWeb Camp is family-friendly, so you can also bring the kids. For the kid in all of us there will be plenty to do from morning yoga, picking berries, watching the sunset on the beach, hiking up a local stream—plus we’ll have kid-friendly activities going on as well. But every child under 18 needs to be accompanied by a parent at all times—no babysitting provided.
Since we’re still working out the kinks, we will be limiting DWeb Camp to 500 people this first year. Sorry, but that means no daytrippers, latecomers, or unregistered drop-ins allowed.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE TICKET? All your meals will be covered in the cost of your ticket: healthy, locally-sourced food, some grown on the Farm itself. You should plan to bring all the extras to eat and drink: snacks, drinks, wine, s’mores. We won’t be serving alcohol, but it’s BYOB. Bring enough to share! We’ll set up some DIY coffee/tea/mate bars as well, so bring your fuel of choice for the community to partake.
DWeb Camp is a community-built event, so it will be what you make it. We supply the land, some shelter, nourishing food, power, WiFi and the rest is up to you. We hope you’ll bring your own project, share your knowledge, launch a conversation, host a tea lounge, offer massages, lead a creative class. Enlist your friends to come and help.
THREE ZONES OF FUN:
Wellness Zone: Members of the Farm will be leading us in meditation, yoga, music-making, nature walks, beach hikes, classes in regenerative farming, star gazing hikes and more. Classes will be held in the 44' Healing Dome, Green House and gardens.
Hacking Zone: The farm is outfitted with 10,000 square feet of hacking space. This is the perfect place to lead a workshop, do a show-and-tell, or build a multi-layered project together. You can sign up for a table, a few chairs and a 10 x 10 space in the Packing Shed. We'll have power and as much bandwidth as possible. Or bring a cool project to display in the Science Fair.
The community is also setting up a mesh network throughout the Farm, for you to run your apps offline. It's the perfect way to simulate living and working in a location with no, exorbitant or censored internet.
Creativity Zone: literally, the sky is the limit! We'll have a huge field and a huge medicine wheel tent available for big, wild, creative projects. Make a maze out of farming trays, create a Drones-only space, build a Fire Pyramid...those are just a few of the ideas we've already received. Fill out a Project form and we'll post your idea so you can enlist allies. The best projects happen when new people come together in unexpected ways.
TIME TO CONNECT:
This event is also about connecting to the beautiful California coast and the communities we're building. So every day we'll take a break, hike to the ocean, or take a nap; learn about native herbs or harvest kale in the gardens.
Each night, expect dinners at sunset, open music jams, bonfires, and an Expo to share your talents and the projects you've created.
DWeb Camp is ultimately a chance to take a break from your normal routine and explore new terrain, both idealogical and physical, inside your mind and outside your door.
